2019 China Auto Forum Rounded Off, Participants Hit Record

  On Apr. 18, the three-day 2019 China Auto Forum, themed with “Innovation, Openness, Green—Focusing on Automotive Industrial Change and Opportunity”, came to a successful conclusion in Shanghai. According to the statistics of the Organizing Committee, more than 2,000 guests at home and abroad attended the forum, hitting a record high. Hundreds of domestic and foreign mainstream medias reported this event. China Auto Forum, a top event for the automotive industry, is co-organized by CAAM and CCTV-2 and supported by OICA and World Economic Forum. Since its first convention in 2011, the forum has been successfully held for 8 times, gaining an ever-increasing influence. Focusing on “high-end, pragmatic and efficiency”, China Auto Forum has become the "Davos" of the auto industry in China; and serves as an important communication platform for world auto leaders. It has become the most concerned event in automotive field each year.

  As a top forum with great influence in China automotive industry, 2019 China Auto Forum has become an important “bellwether” to lead future development directions.   2019 is the year of 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. With profound changes taken place in the internal and external environment of China economy, the automotive industry, as the pillar of national economy, also faces unprecedented tests. The auto sales in 2018 contracted for the first time after over 20 years of growth. Comparing with the high-speed growth period, what kinds of new changes and trends of auto industry will be presented in the new era? And how to catch the opportunities in the shifting into high-quality development? Facing transformation and upgrading, innovative capacity promotion, high quality development, deepening industrial reform and opening up, as well as accelerating green development have become the common and core subjects to deal with by the government, industry and companies, also the theme of this year’s forum. Composed of the closed-door summit, conference forum, theme forums and concurrent activities, 2019 China Auto Forum tried to seek the solutions through in-depth exchange and discussion.
  On the afternoon of Apr. 16, the closed-door summit was successfully held. As a key communicating platform for industrial leaders and related government high levels, the summit was hosted by Mr. Dong Yang, the Former Executive Vice Chairman of CAAM and Chairman of China Auto Forum Organizing Committee. Mr. Xin Guobin, the Vice Minister of MIIT, delivered an important speech. The major OEM leaders and government officials carried out in-depth communication on issues of most concern within the industry, including manufacturing power, cyber power and auto industrial high quality development, the next step development plan and policy directions of NEVs, the top design thinking, infrastructures and standards & regulations plan of ICVs, FCV policy design and solutions regarding to the bottlenecks like infrastructures, the concrete enforcement regulations and main strategies to promote auto consumption, the challenges and supportive policies for Chinses enterprises “going-out” under new international situation, etc.

  On the morning of Apr.17, the conference forum was held, hosted by Mr. Shi Jianhua, the Deputy Secretary General of CAAM and Secretary General of China Auto Forum Organizing Committee. On the conference, on behalf of the co-organizers, Mr. Dong Yang, the Former Executive Vice Chairman of CAAM and Chairman of China Auto Forum Organizing Committee, and Mr. Zhao He, the Vice Director of CCTV-2, gave welcome remarks. Mr. Wan Gang, the Vice Chairman of CPPCC and Chairman of CAST, made an important speech on how to grasp the development direction of NEVs. Mr. Wang Ruixiang, the Chairman of CMIF, analyzed the status of auto market. Mr. Lu Fangzhou, the Governor of Jiading District, shared the current situation and future thinking of Jiading automotive industry. Mr. Bernhard Mattes, OICA Senior Officer, President of VDA, introduced the latest industrial pattern worldwide, emphasizing that NEV and ICV were megatrends of global automotive industry. Mr. Zhang Xiyong, the General Manager of BAIC, delivered a keynote speech entitled on “New Challenge, New Mission”. In interaction section, the representatives from VDA, JAMA, ANFIA, KAMA and SIAM brought us the latest trends of the automotive industry in their countries and suggestions to China automotive industry.
