On the afternoon of Jan. 17, 2013, the Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Dong Yang met with the delegation of European Commission. They were Mr. Philippe Jean, Ms. Alexandre Sa Carvalho and Mr. Jean-Marie AVEZOU. The manager of Technology Department Mr. Wei Houmin and the manager of International Cooperation Department Mr. Zhang Lin accompanied to attend the meeting. 
        First of all, Mr. Jean gave an introduction about the historical background of the 58 Agreement and its active role in pushing forward the development of automotive industry at that time. He indicated that the 58 Agreement had been revised constantly in recent years since internalization and globalization were becoming general trends. Therefore, they were willing to absorb more emerging countries into this Agreement, like China, India, Brazil, etc. so as to advance the progress of the unification of global standards and regulations.

Hearing that, Mr. Dong Yang affirmed the role of the 58 Agreement. In addition, he expressed that it would be the wave of the future to join 58 Agreement with the rapid development of China’s automotive industry.
