The First CAAM-KAMA Exchange Meeting Held in Beijing

On June 27th, 2013, the first CAAM-KAMA (Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association) meeting was successfully held in Beijing. The President and CEO of KAMA Mr. YOUNGSOO KWAN, the Executive Managing Director Mr. SEONG ICK KIM, the Executive Director of International Cooperation Team Mr. TAE NYEN KIM, the General Manager of Transport and Safety Department Mr. YOUNG JONG KOH and the staff of International Cooperation Department Mr. OH CHAN KWON attended the meeting. For the CAAM side, the Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Dong Yang, the Deputy Secretary General Mr. Shi Jianhua and the Deputy Secretary General Mr. Ye Shengji joined this meeting.

As two automotive associations, CAAM and KAMA always kept tight contacts and exchanges on several fields, such as industrial data, industrial policy, standards and regulations, etc.
        At the very beginning, Mr. Dong Yang and Mr. Kwan delivered speeches successively to review the development of Chinese and Korean automotive industries in the past decades as well as the friendly cooperative relations between the two associations. Besides, Mr. Dong Yang extended his warmest welcome to Mr. Kwan and his party.
        Firstly, CAAM and KAMA respectively introduced each one’s sales and production of 2012 and the prospect of the automotive market of 2013. Then, they carried out deep exchanges on certain fields. For the issue of FTA, both sides introduced their own nation’s signing Agreements with other Asian countries. Meanwhile, CAAM and KAMA agreed that the final sign of China-Korea FTA would bring a win-win result for the economy of the two nations, especially for the development of the automotive industry. As for the aspects of automotive development and environment as well as auto technology, both CAAM and KAMA introduced each country’s emission standards, policies supporting environmental friendly vehicles, auto certificate mechanism and safety regulations. In addition, they made exchanges on revise of the industrial policies and the function of the industrial associations.

On this meeting, the two sides reached agreements on setting up monthly data-exchange mechanism and holding exchange meeting annually. At the same time, both sides would continue to strengthen communication and cooperation to jointly promote the sound and stable development of the automotive industry in both two countries.
        Besides, some representatives of CAAM accompanied to attend this meeting. They were the Director of Trade Coordination Department Mr. Xu Haidong, the Business Manager Mr. Lu Wenpeng, the Deputy Director of Technology Department Mr. He Peng, the Manager of International Cooperation Department Mr. Zhang Lin and Ms. Chang Xiaoyan.
