On August 28th, 2013, Volvo Car Chengdu Plant Inauguration was held in Chengdu economic and technological development zone. The Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Dong Yang attended the ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. He wished the cooperation between Volvo and Geely could play a positive role in the internalization of Chinese automobiles and the development of local economy. He also wished the two enterprises could improve each one’s core competitiveness through cooperation.

It is reported that Volvo Car Chengdu Plant would enjoy a 100,000 annual production capacity, of which the production of 50,000 units could be reached for the first phase. It was a plant with well-equipped facilities, including press room, welding room, painting room, assembly shop, quality center, logistics, independent test track, etc.
        The Vice Mayor of Chengdu Mr. Gou Zhengli also attended the ceremony and made a speech. Other guests included Mr. Lars Wrebo, Volvo Manufacturing Senior Vice President, Mr. Lars Danielson, Senior Vice President of Volvo China Business, related government officials, industrial heads, experts and the media.
        After the ceremony, Mr. Dong Yang conducted investigations to FAW Volkswagen Chengdu Plant and FAW Toyota Chengdu Plant.
