On Dec. 5th to 6th, 2013, Chinese auto industrial transformation and upgrading meeting was held in Beijing, which was organized by China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF for short) and co-organized by CAAM, SAE-China, Automotive Sub-Council of CCPIT, China Automotive Technology & Research Center and China Automotive News.

The meeting was strongly supported by the relevant government departments. The Minister of MIIT Mr. Miao Wei attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Besides, some related officials from NDRC and MOFCOM participated in this meeting as well. The Chairman of CMIF Mr. Wang Ruixiang gave a keynote speech entitled on Accelerating Transformation and Upgrading to Build China into An Auto Giant. The Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Dong Yang reported the discussion results of each panel and presented a proposal on establishing “Chinese Auto Industrial Alliance”. Some related association leaders like iron and steel, petrifaction, transportation, etc. as well as the representatives from auto companies attended this meeting. Undertook by BAIC, some guests from major domestic auto manufacturers (FAW, DFM, SAIC, Changan, BAIC, GAC, Brilliance, JAC, Chery, Geely, BYD, etc.) and auto parts enterprises (Wanxiang, YAPP, HSAE, etc.) exchanged experiences and displayed self-owned brand products. In addition, guests of relevant associations and institutions also delivered speeches.

On the meeting, several topics were provided to discuss. They were construction of Chinese brand, collectivization development, new energy vehicles, overseas M&A practice, technical innovation, standards and regulations, market expansion, improvement of industrial chain and equipment manufacturing and services.

In addition, the organizer and co-organizers jointly issued a Call for Establishing “Chinese Auto Industrial Alliance” as well as printed Instruction on Accelerating Auto Industrial Transformation and Upgrading (Draft for Comment). Moreover, Chinese brand automobile exhibition was organized during the two-day meeting. No doubt, the meeting would play a positive role in coordinative development, transformation and upgrading and building auto giant.
