APEC 2014 the 20th Automotive Dialogue Held in Beijing

On April 23rd to 25th, APEC 2014 the 20th Automotive Dialogue was held at Beijing Conference Center, organized by MIIT and co-organized by CAAM. Over 130 representatives from 11 economic entities attended this meeting. They were participants from China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, America and Vietnam. Meanwhile, guests from SIAM were also invited to participate in. APEC Automotive Dialogue (APEC AD) aimed at strengthening coordination of automotive industries among different economic entities and promoting convenience and freedom of trade. Besides, appeal reflection was also one of the functions of APEC AD.

Themed with “Green Drive, Win-win Cooperation”, the Vice Minister of MIIT Mr. Su Bo attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. He emphasized the role APEC played in promoting convenience and freedom of trade and investment in Asia-Pacific as well as the significance of common development of auto industries in this area to new energy vehicles.

The Deputy Secretary General of Beijing Government Mr. Zhu Yan also delivered a speech. In his speech, he introduced the development of automotive industry in Beijing and its numbers of vehicle in use. In addition, he extended his warm welcome to all the participants and best wishes for a successful meeting.

The rotating chairman Mr. Wang Fuchang, Chief of Equipment Department of MIIT, hosted the meeting. He welcomed those representatives as well as other domestic enterprises leaders and related government officials.

During the three-day session, the representatives of each economic entity introduced their auto market situation, process of trade agreements and harmonization of auto-related laws as well as development of new energy technologies. At the end of the meeting, a declaration on jointly promoting the sustainable development of automotive industry in Asia-Pacific had been reached.
