Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Dong Yang Led Delegation to Investigate Auto Market of North America

Invited by Michigan government and Detroit Regional Chamber, CAAM organized a delegation to USA to investigate local investment environment on June 11th to 19th, 2014.
        Led by the Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Dong Yang, over 30 delegates from auto-related enterprises and branches of CAAM attended this activity. The Deputy Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Shi Jianhua also participated in the investigation.
        The delegation visited Detroit, Toledo, Washington and New York to carry out a series of communications and investigations.
        On June 11th, the delegation held a symposium with Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Detroit Regional Chamber and local enterprises.


 
Symposium

On the symposium, Mr. Dong Yang delivered a keynote speech to introduce the status of Chinese automotive industry and the functions of CAAM. He also talked about overseas investment in his speech.
        After the symposium, the delegation visited Plymouth Automotive R&D Park in Michigan. The Park attracted lots of automotive and auto parts enterprises to settle in. Its preferential land policy and reasonable tax structure had already built a sound business environment for foreign companies.

The Michigan government attached great importance to the visit of Chinese delegation. On the morning of June 12th, the Governor of Michigan Mr. Calley met with the delegation and carried out deep discussion.

Later, the delegation visited Michigan automotive industrial office to talk about the possibilities of cooperation. The Director of the office Mr. Francis introduced the development plan of automotive industry in Michigan. He also exchanged views with Chinese delegation on influences of globalization and urbanization to new vehicles as well as industrial chain integration.

On that afternoon, the delegation visited Ford plant, its auto museum and Ford F production line.

On the morning of June 13th, invited by Mr. Timothy, the Deputy Mayor of Toledo, Ohio, the delegation visited Toledo and held a symposium with local enterprises and related agencies.

On the afternoon of June 13th, the delegation attended 2014 China Forum organized by Detroit Chinese Business Association. On the forum, Mr. Dong Yang delivered a speech entitled on Ten-Year Achievements and Future Development of Chinese Automotive Industry.

On June 15th, the delegation investigated Washington auto market to look at local dealers of Ford and Hyundai.
        On June 17th, the delegation arrived in New York to visit the Headquarter of ISI Group to communicate with ISI, JPMorgan Chase, Blackstone, etc.

On June 18th, the delegation met with Mr. Chris, the Vice President of BMW (North America) and Mr. Arndt, the Industrial Analyst of ISI to analyze the status of American automotive industry and its investment prospect.

Through investigation, the both sides strengthened communication. For Chinese enterprises, they obtained firsthand information, like local policies, regulations and products. Such information would be definitely good for their future investment. The delegates hoped CAAM could continue to organize similar visit and investigation.
