2014 Automotive International Trade Coordination Committee Analysis Meeting for the First Half Year Held in Qingdao

On July 10th to 11th, 2014 Automotive International Trade Coordination Committee Analysis Meeting for the First Half Year was held in Qingdao. The representatives from domestic major auto groups attended this meeting, including SAIC, FAW, Chang’an, SAIC-Volkswagen, FAW-Volkswagen, GAC-Honda, Brilliance, JAC, Geely, Yutong, Xiamen King Long, Ankai, Lifan, Qingling, Changhe and so on. Besides, some representatives from aftermarket enterprises like Hang Lung Group and BeautyYan as well as the scholars and experts from Renmin University and CAAM also participated in. The meeting was jointly hosted by the Deputy Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Shi Jianhua and the Director of Trade Coordination Department Mr. Xu Haidong.

On the morning of July 10th, the representatives introduced each company’s operation in the first half. They also made forecast for the whole-year market situation. Then, Mr. Han Baojie, Trade Coordination Department of CAAM, informed 2014 Automotive Industrial Report on Market Analysis of the First Half and Whole-Year Prediction (Discussion Paper). The Report was analyzed in a new method. Through discussion and revision, the Report would be released on the next-day meeting.

On that afternoon, Mr. Xu Haidong introduced the progress of the Subject “Influences on Chinese Automotive Industry to Reduce Import Duty”. Then, on behalf of the secretariat, he introduced the main works done by the Trade Coordination Committee in the first half as well as the working plans of the second half, including non-tariff barrier, establishing joint venture sodality, self-discipline, APEC, China-South Korea FTA, etc.

According to the Report, the whole-year demand for automobiles in 2014 would be about 23.83 million, with an increase of 8.3%. The Report collected analysis and prediction of domestic major auto groups, which had a high reference value on auto market trend in 2014.
