On Jan. 28th, 2015, the Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Dong Yang and the Deputy Secretary General Mr. Shi Jianhua met with the guests from Luxembourg Consulate General in Shanghai. They were the Consul General Mr. Luc Decker, the Chief of Industry DG Mr. Francois Knaff, the Head of Automotive Components Sector Mr. Joost Ortjens, the Minister Counselor Mr. Loic Bertoli, the Senior Officer of Trade and Investment Ms. Gao Jieqiong, and the Officer of Trade and Investment Mr. Benjamin Bosch.
Luxembourg delegation wished to establish a relationship with CAAM, and to communicate on auto issues, so as to learn more about Chinese automotive industry. Meanwhile, through this visit, the Consul General Mr. Luc Decker hoped to introduce the development of Luxembourg automotive industry to discuss the possibility of cooperation with CAAM in future.
Mr. Shi JianHua briefly introduced the overall situation and development trend of Chinese automotive industry, as well as the main work and foreign exchange activities of CAAM.
Mr. Joost Ortjens presented the related situation of automotive industry in Luxembourg. The automotive industry here mainly refers to auto parts industry since no OEMs in Luxembourg. Except for the well-known financial and iron and steel industries, the automotive industry also plays an important role in its economy. Many multinational auto companies set up regional headquarters or R&D center in Luxembourg.
Mr. Dong Yang exchanged views with Luxembourg delegation on the functions and ways of automotive R&D center. Besides, both sides carried out communications on issues concerning government support and taxation in Luxembourg and auto export in China. Moreover, issues on mutual visits and future cooperation were also discussed.
The Director of International Cooperation Department Mr. Chen Yuanzhi and International Cooperation Department Ms. Chang Xiaoyan, Ms. Liu Zheng accompanied to attend this meeting.
