Introduction of 2015 China Auto Forum

2015 China Auto Forum, the focus of the world’s attention will be held in Shanghai on April 20th to 22nd. The theme of this year’s forum is “China Automotive Industry under the New Economic Normal”. China Auto Forum is a top and high-end auto forum in China, organized by CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), supported by OICA (International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers) and fully participated by World Economic Forum (Davos). Thanks to the growing influence brought by the four successful forums since 2011, China Auto Forum has developed into the truly “Davos” in China automotive industry, and the most important platform gathering world auto leaders, domestic and foreign elites and related government officials to exchange and communicate, with the characteristics of “high-end orientation, down-to-earth spirit and effectiveness”.
        2015 China Auto Forum will definitely be an international forum with grander scale and broader influence. Under the support of OICA and World Economic Forum, 2015 China Auto Forum will gather domestic and foreign elites and auto leaders to explore the industrial development rules of China and the world under the new normal. Comparing with past ones, this year’s forum will prolong a day. Hence, the contents will be more enriched, covering issues of the most concern within the industry and the society, such as automotive strategy, auto market, marketing pattern, procurement, urban transport, environmental protection, energy conservation, new energy, connected vehicles, auto finance and so on. Undoubtedly, 2015 China Auto Forum will be a feast specially built for the industry and the society.
        I. Development Road for Chinese Automotive Industry under the New Normal
        What opportunities and challenges will face by Chinese and world automotive industry under the new normal? This year, those big issues concerning industrial development will be discussed and analyzed on the Closed-Door Summit and the Main Forum. On the Main Forum, OICA and CAAM will bring keynote speeches on industrial development of China and the world respectively; and World Economic Forum will introduce world economic changes and their influences to the auto industry. Meanwhile, the famous economist Mr. Wu Jinglian and representative from Chang’an Group will be specially invited to deliver keynote speeches, focusing on strategic opportunities under the new normal and countermeasures for Chinese brand. In the interaction, chairmen from OICA and other auto associations will bring us the newest international experience and suggestions. Under the severe competition, it is crucial for Chinese automotive industry to improve brand impact, so as to make it bigger and stronger. In view that, one of the sub-forums will be arranged to explore on how to build brand with international influence, on which VDA, JAMA and KAMA will be invited to share experience of each country. Besides, a special dialogue entitled on “Ascension of Chinese Brand under Crisis” will be carried out as well.
        II. Development Strategies and Parts Layout of Auto Groups
        Under the new normal, what big opportunities do they have for Chinese OEMs and parts suppliers? How can they tackle with those big changes? You may find answers and get inspired on the sub-forum one entitled on “Development Strategy and Product Layout for Automotive Industry under Transformation and Upgrading”. On this session, the domestic six major auto groups, including FAW, SAIC, DFM, BAIC, Chang’an and GAC as well as some well-known international OEMs will be invited to deliver speeches and carry out dialogues.
        For supporting, after-sale and export, OEM’s supporting and procurement system is undoubtedly the most concern of auto parts companies. Therefore, the sub-forum six will fully focus on procurement trends and development opportunities for local parts companies. Chiefs of procurement department of domestic major auto enterprises will come to analyze the supporting trends and changes, covering passenger cars of different brands, commercial vehicles, trucks and buses, which will be meaningful for each parts supplier.
        III. New Energy Vehicles and Environmental Protection
        The development of new energy vehicles has become an important national policy. With the constantly strengthening supports, new energy vehicles has received an unprecedented attention among all circles of the society. The year of 2015 must be a year worthy expecting and full of variables on new energy vehicles. Under such background, the sub-forum seven will emphasize on bottlenecks and countermeasures of new energy vehicles to discuss issues of most concern in this field, including subsidies, development trends, infrastructures and products like BEV, PHEV, etc.
        Energy conservation and environmental protection not only affect the product upgrading but also the interests of the public after entering into the auto society. In regard to this, the sub-forum eight will keep an eye on the strategic choice and technical routes of auto energy conservation and emphasize its practicality to analyze the influences brought by the new standards.
        IV. Market Pattern and Transport Solutions
        Chinese auto market has entered into a stable period after high-speed development. Themed with Auto Market Trends and Countermeasures, the sub-forum two will present the features of the current and future market and discuss issues of future layout, Shanghai FTA and antitrust.
        In China auto market, the purchasing restriction in some big cities has become one of the most important factors to affect the development of automotive industry and a significant reason for many domestic brands to fade out from the first-tier cities, hence attracting controversy within and outside the industry. In future, how to push forward the development of auto market in big cities? How to tackle with the severe traffic congestion? Can we learn some from the international experience, like Tokyo, Paris and New York? On the sub-forum ten, we will invite related experts both at home and abroad to read out restricted policies carried out in urban cities and to introduce international solutions.
        V. Internet and Future Automotive Industrial Development
        The rapid development of Internet has a dramatic impact on traditional manufacturing industry. The combination between Internet and automobile pushes forward the development of connected vehicles, which will be an important way to develop automobiles in future. This year, we will invite guests from Alliance and other smart car projects to give introduction on connected vehicles and automated driving.
        Besides, Internet also changes people’s way of consumption, and will change the sales pattern on auto products someday, though e-business for automobiles is still at elementary developing stage. Facing such tendency, the forum will invite a group of related guests from OEMs and Internet companies to explore future sales patterns.
        VI. Participation of World Economic Forum
        Based on the past two forums, CAAM and WEF will deepen their cooperation during 2015 China Auto Forum. Except for delivering speeches on the Main Forum and sub-forum as usual, the two parties will jointly hold the Closed-Door Summit this year to invite domestic and foreign OEM CEOs and government officials to exchange views and share experience.
        2015 China Auto Forum will become the focus of the world auto industry and attract the media’s attention.
