“2015 China Auto Forum” Held in Shanghai

2015 China Auto Forum, themed with “China Automotive Industry under the New Economic Normal” was held in Shanghai on April 20th to 22nd. China Auto Forum is a top and high-end auto forum in China, organized by CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), supported by OICA (International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers) and fully participated by World Economic Forum (Davos).

Closed-Door Summit

Thanks to the growing influence brought by the four successful forums since 2011, China Auto Forum has developed into the truly “Davos” in China automotive industry, and the most important platform gathering world auto leaders, domestic and foreign elites and related government officials to exchange and communicate, with the characteristics of “high-end orientation, down-to-earth spirit and effectiveness”.
        Near 1000 domestic and foreign guests attended this forum, including leaders from NDRC, MIIT, MOFCOM, MOST, MEP, MOF, AQSIQ and People’s Government of Jiading District, senior leaders of domestic auto groups, president of OICA, senior leaders of World Economic Forum, the presidents (secretary general) of automobile associations of other countries, experts, scholars and representatives of Member Units of CAAM, domestic medias, etc.
        Chinese economy is experiencing an important period of strategic opportunities. The continuous optimization and upgrading of economic structure and the following economic shifts, from high-speed to moderate-high, from factor and investment driven to innovation driven, mark Chinese economy has marched into a new normal. Under this new situation, China automotive industry is facing greater challenges and opportunities. This year’s forum was composed of three major parts, the Closed-Door Summit, Main Forum and Sub-Forums. During the forum, participants jointly discussed issues on new strategies, ways and hopes for auto industry development in China and the world, looked ahead into the future of China and the world auto industries, and explored direction for harmonious development of the auto industry and the society under new economic normal.
        Hosted by the Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CAAM Mr. Dong Yang, the Closed-Door Summit of 2015 China Auto Forum was held on the afternoon of April 20th. About a hundred senior leaders were invited, including leaders of major auto manufacturers both at home and abroad, heads of auto-related agencies and some related government officials.

On the morning of April 21st, the Main Forum of 2015 China Auto Forum was held. Mr. Dong Yang delivered a keynote speech entitled on “Challenges and Strategies of China Automotive Industry under the New Normal”. Besides, the forum invited the famous economist Mr. Wu Jinglian to help us analyze the strategic opportunities. Except for the traditional speeches, the interaction with leaders of foreign auto associations also brought us valuable experience. On that afternoon and the morning of April 22nd, ten special seminars were held, which were “Development Strategies and Product Layout of Automotive Industry under Transformation and Upgrading”, “Auto Market Trends and Coping Strategies”, “How to Build Automobile Brands with International Influence”, “Automobile Marketing Mode Innovation under Impact of Internet”, “The Way of Automobile Finance and Industrial Integration”, “Parts Procurement Trend and Opportunities for Local Parts Suppliers”, “Bottleneck and Solutions of New Energy Vehicles”, “Strategic Option and Technical Routes for Green Cars”, “How Connected Vehicles and Smart Cars Change Industrial Pattern and Way to Travel”, and “Purchasing Restriction and Urban Traffic Restriction”.
