On Mar. 1st to 2nd, the Executive Vice Chairman of CAAM Mr. Dong Yang went to Geneva to attend OICA council meeting, press conference and visited Geneva Motor Show.

OICA Council Meeting

As the only international organization and representative of global auto manufacturers, OICA is made up of by auto manufacturers all around the world. Now, the organization’s membership comprises 38 national trade associations around the world including all major automobile manufacturing countries. OICA now has eight permanent council members and two non-permanent council members. Each March, CAAM, as one of its permanent council members, would attend its OICA council meeting held in Geneva to discuss issues concerning industrial development, technological trends and international auto shows as well as acquire the latest auto-related data.
As usual, OICA held the first press conference of this year before OICA council meeting. On the press conference, the President Mr. Yong-Geun Kim delivered a welcome speech. The Secretary General Mr. Yves van der Straaten informed the sales and production of automobiles in 2015. Last year witnessed a stable growth around the world, of which about 90.6 million units were produced and over 89 million units were sold. As for the situation by region, Asia had a stable performance, accounting for half of the global share, especially the performance of China which continued to the first in the world. EU was finally catching up the pre-crisis level, especially in production that reached the more usual mark of around 18 million vehicles. When it came to sales, though still below such level, was only a matter of time. North America continued to perform strongly, both above the pre-crisis figures; while Central and South America kept decline and even accelerated the downfall. As for Africa, a stale growth could be seen.
After the press conference, OICA council meeting was held. Issues of next round table, OICA study, international auto show, technical trends and OICA membership were discussed. Besides, CAAM invited OICA guests present to attend 2016 China Auto Forum.
After the meeting, Mr. Dong Yang visited Geneva Motor Show.
