Compulsory national standards for fuel consumption limits for passenger vehicles were released

On February 20th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized the formulation of the Passenger Vehicle Fuel Consumption Limitsmandatory national standards (GB19578-2021) by the State Administration for Market Regulation, the Standardization Administration of China approved the release, will be formally implemented on July 1st, 2021.This standard is one of the important supporting standards for automobile energy saving management in China.

1. The standard applies to M1 type vehicles capable of burning gasoline or diesel fuel with a maximum design total mass not exceeding 3500kg, and does not apply to vehicles burning only gaseous fuel or alcohol ether fuel.

2. This standard, together with Passenger Vehicle Fuel Consumption Evaluation Methods and Indicators (GB 27999-2019), forms the fifth stage of Passenger Vehicle Fuel Consumption Standard, which jointly supports the smooth implementation of the double-integral management method.

3. The implementation of this standard is conducive to promoting the progress of automobile energy saving technology, improving the level of vehicle energy saving, and eliminating high-fuel consumption models. It is of great significance to promoting the healthy and sustainable development of the automobile industry and supporting the realization of China's carbon peak and carbon neutral goals.
