In May, the total sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 633,100 units, up 8.2% year on year. The market share increased 2.6 percentage points than the previous year. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 173,400 units, down 21.6% year on year, with a decrease of 2.8 percentage points on market share. On the contrary, the sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 237,800 units and 119,500 units respectively, up 92.4% and 10.3% year on year. Their market shares increased 13.1 percentage points and 1.9 percentage points.
As for the first five months, the accumulated sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 3,612,800 units, up 17.3% year on year. The market share increased 3.9 percentage points than the previous year, reaching 42.1%. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 1,079,900 units, down 8.3% year on year, with a decrease of 1 percentage point on market share, reaching 21.9%. On the contrary, the sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 1,204,600 units and 791,400 units respectively, up 101.5% and 22.3% year on year. Their market shares increased 14.5 percentage points and 3.2 percentage points, reaching 54.4% and 88.9% respectively.
