In August, the total sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 559,000 units, up 2.5% year on year, accounting for 39.4% of the total sales of passenger cars. The market share increased 2.3 percentage points than the previous year. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 140,600 units, down 21% year on year, accounting for 18.5% of the total sales of cars, with a decrease of 1.1 percentage points on market share. The sales of Chinese brand SUV enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 232,400 units, up 61.4% year on year, accounting for 51.3% of the total sales of SUV. The market share increased 5 percentage points than the previous year. While the sales of Chinese brand MPV reached 115,000 units, down 6.6% year on year, accounting for 86.7% of the total sales of MPV, with an increase of 2.3 percentage points on market share.
As for the first eight months, the accumulated sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 5,237,200 units, up 12.2% year on year. The market share increased 3.5 percentage points than the previous year, reaching 41%. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 1,509,700 units, down 12.4% year on year, with a decrease of 0.9 percentage points on market share, reaching 20.9%. On the contrary, the sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 1,849,200 units and 1,105,200 units respectively, up 83.4% and 13.4% year on year. Their market shares increased 11.2 percentage points and 2.6 percentage points, reaching 52.7% and 87.6% respectively.
