In March, the total sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 892,000 units, up 8.5% year on year, accounting for 43.4% of the total sales of passenger cars. The market share decreased 0.5 percentage points than the previous year. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 198,000 units, down 21.3% year on year, accounting for 19.1% of the total sales of cars, with a decrease of 4.4 percentage points on market share. On the contrary, the sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 392,000 units and 212,000 units respectively, up 45.8% and 19% year on year. Their market shares kept the same as last year and increased 1.1 percentage points, reaching 56.6% and 90.7% respectively.
For the first quarter, the accumulated sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 2,553,000 units, up 11.1% year on year. The market share increased 1.8 percentage points than the previous year, reaching 45%. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 560,000 units, down 21.2% year on year, with a decrease of 3 percentage points on market share, reaching 19.9%. On the contrary, the sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 1,154,000 units and 620,000 units respectively, up 57.4% and 17.5% year on year. Their market shares increased 2.2 percentage points and 2.1 percentage points, reaching 58.8% and 92.6% respectively.
