In May, the total sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 717,000 units, up 12.9% year on year, accounting for 40% of the total sales of passenger cars. The market share increased 0.6 percentage points than the previous year. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 160,000 units, down 8.2% year on year, accounting for 17.4% of the total sales of cars, with a decrease of 1.8 percentage points on market share. On the contrary, the sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 335,000 units and 158,000 units respectively, up 40.2% and 31.9% year on year. Their market shares increased 1.5 percentage points and 2.4 percentage points, reaching 53.4% and 87.5% respectively.
For the first five months, the accumulated sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 4,018,000 units, up 10.9% year on year. The market share increased 1.2 percentage points than the previous year, reaching 43.4%. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 891,000 units, down 17.7% year on year, with a decrease of 2.7 percentage points on market share, reaching 19.2%. On the contrary, the sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 1,824,000 units and 936,000 units respectively, up 50.5% and 18.3% year on year. Their market shares increased 2.1 percentage points and 2 percentage points, reaching 56.7% and 90.9% respectively.
