In August, the total sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 730,000 units, up 30.1% year on year, accounting for 40.7% of the total sales of passenger cars. The market share increased 1.2 percentage points than the previous year. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 160,000 units, up 13.2% year on year, accounting for 17.5% of the total sales of cars, with a decrease of 1.1 percentage points on market share. The sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 369,000 units and 157,000 units respectively, up 57.5% and 36.2% year on year. Their market shares increased 56.3 percentage points and 86.9 percentage points, reaching 4.9% and 0.2% respectively.
For the first eight months, the accumulated sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 6,099,000 units, up 16.0% year on year. The market share increased 42.2 percentage points than the previous year, reaching 1.2%. To be specific, the sales of Chinese brand cars were 1,358,000 units, down 10.5% year on year, with a decrease of 2.4 percentage points on market share, reaching 18.6%. On the contrary, the sales of Chinese brand SUV and MPV both enjoyed growth in sales volume and market share. The sales reached 2,854,000 units and 1,373,000 units respectively, up 53.5% and 24.2% year on year. Their market shares increased 3.2 percentage points and 1.9 percentage points, reaching 56.1% and 89.5% respectively.
