In September, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 2,232,000 and 2,268,000 units respectively, up 29.1% and 26.0% than that of last month, and up 36.8% and 28.9% year on year, continuing to grow on yearly basis, 4.0 percentage points and 2.8 percentage points higher than the overall growth of automobiles.
For the first nine months, the production and sales of passenger cars were 16,818,000 and 16,752,000 units respectively, up 14.7% and 14.8% year on year. Comparing with the first eight months, the growth rates enlarged 2.8 percentage points and 1.9 percentage points respectively. As for the passenger cars by type, comparing with the same period of last year, SUV continued a high-speed growth, of which the production and sales were up 46.0% and 45.9%. MPV also enjoyed a growth, with an increase of 18.5% and 22.9% in production and sales respectively. As for cars, the production and sales witnessed increase, up 3.1% and 2.7% respectively. Moreover, the situation of crossed passenger cars was worse, of which such figures decreased by 34.5% and 33.5%.
In September, the sales of passenger cars with engine capacity of 1.6L and below reached 1,634,000 units, up 42.2% year on year, 13.3 percentage points higher than the overall growth of the passenger cars. The sales accounted for 72.1% of the total sales of passenger cars.
For the first nine months, the sales of passenger cars with engine capacity of 1.6L and below reached 12,035,000 units, up 22.1% year on year. The sales accounted for 71.8% of the total sales of passenger cars, up 4.1% year on year.
