In October of 2013, slightly higher than last month, the sales and production of passenger cars enjoyed a good performance, increasing more than 20% year on year. The growth of passenger cars was a key driver for the overall growth. As for the first ten months, the growth of passenger cars improved significantly than that of from January to September in sales and production.
In this month, the production and sales of passenger cars were 1,591,800 and 1,605,700 units respectively, up 1% and 0.8% than that of last month, and up 24.3% and 23.6% year on year. From the perspective of auto type, the sales and production of cars were slightly lower than last month while the growth of MPV exceeded 10%. Comparing with last month, SUV witnessed a slight decline in production but increase in sales. For the cross passenger cars, an increase could be seen both in sales and production. As for comparing such types with the same period of last year, MPV and SUV maintained a rapid growth, of which SUV increased more than 70% both in sales and production. Besides, the growth of cars was also over 15%. Only the cross passenger cars dropped.
From January to October, the production and sales of passenger cars accumulatively reached 14,518,900 and 14,455,100 units respectively, up 14.8% and 15% year on year. Their growth rates enjoyed an increase of 1.1 percentage points and 1 percentage point than that of the first nine months. Comparing with the same period of 2012, the growth of cars, SUV and MPV all enjoyed increase than the first nine months.
