In January, the sales and production of passenger cars achieved growth comparing with the same period of last year, which was the key drive to fuel growth.
        In this month, the production and sales of passenger cars were 1,710,600 and 1,846,900 units respectively, up 5.5% and 7% year on year. In particular, the monthly sales set a new record, exceeding 1.8 million for the first time. Comparing with last December, the production witnessed a 4% of decrease while the sales enjoyed a 3.9% of increase.
        As for the production by type, cars and SUVs were lower than last month; while MPV and cross passenger cars achieved a slight growth. However, if we compare such figure with last January, cars and cross passenger cars were lower; while MPV and SUV were much higher, even up 30%.
        As for the sales by type, all the types were higher than last month. For a year-on-year comparison, cars increased slightly while cross passenger cars decreased sharply, down 25.1%. Besides, both MPV and SUV enjoyed a great growth, even over 30%.
